Although athletes older than their Age Group cannot play down in competitions, athletes younger than the competing age group may play up in competition.  The athlete’s coach will let them know when they are ready to both practice and play with the age group ahead of them. Playing up is a privilege that is earned by hard work and commitment to the team.  It does not guarantee that the athlete gets equivalent pool time during the games being played. A lot of their time may be spent on the bench observing, learning and supporting their team during the tournament. It also does not mean that an athlete no longer needs to show up for games and practices in their age group. If you must make a choice because of time constraints, choose your athlete’s age group or consult with the coach and he will let you know which is best for the athlete. Playing up this season does not mean that an athlete will be playing up in the following season. The coach will again let them know when they are ready.
