In May of 2015 water polo came to Strathmore.  Youth aged 10 to 14 took part in an eight week Water Polo 101 clinic coached by Ashley and Courtney Menard and a love for the sport was ignited in the young players.  Kevin and Kristi Hill saw the enthusiasm of the players and took on the challenge of bringing a water polo club to Strathmore full time.  With great dedication and a ton of volunteer work, registration was open in the fall with the athletes hitting the water for the first time in September.  By then end of the season 30 athletes had joined the program.

The athletes took to the pool with Coach Brooke Zimmerman taking hold of the reins.

The Polominos are part of the Alberta Water Polo Association and compete in the Calgary Region League with their games played at the Talisman Centre in Calgary.

The Polominos are entering into their second year with the 2016 – 2017 season with several of their athletes moving up to high level competition teams.  Shelby Taylor will be acting as the head coach with Brooke Zimmerman taking on the Athletic Director’s responsibilities.

Players under ten will now have the chance to learn the sport of water polo by joining the Polominos Splash Ball program.  Sami Banks will be acting as the coach for this fun and exciting new program.
